Aak Lengkeek and Carol Lengkeek-Ollier are international design specialists.
Their Company, House in Harmony, established in 1996 and now located in Indiana, offers Old World imports to the design trade: interior designers, architects,
landscape architects, developers and builders.
Carol has worked successfully for more than 30 years on residential, commercial and professional design projects, both nationally and internationally.
Aak is Dutch and descends from a family of architects. After a career as an industrial
psychologist and a second career as a sculptor and painter, he joined forces with Carol to create environments for clients that reflect harmony. Their definition of harmony is “unity in diversity”. It means that different design elements like spatial proportions, colors, materials and furnishings complement each other in a balanced interplay, resulting in interiors that are beautiful and contribute to a sense of wellbeing.
Their vast network of European resources helps procure a wide array of one-of-a-kind design elements that potentially work together: furnishings, lighting, architectural antiques, garden elements, flooring, art and accessories.
These imports originate from European countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England, Germany and Italy but also from India, China and Indonesia.
House in Harmony is North America’s sole distributor of the Aldo Bernardi line of Italian lighting: a broad spectrum collection of indoor and outdoor light fixtures of original, timeless design and superior quality.
Aak and Carol’s unique strength lies in the combination of psychological insights with their creativity, knowledge and skills as designers and buyers. Recognizing and being able to accommodate different personality types yields customer satisfaction and long term relationships. They further support their clients with product information and installation guidance to help them be successful.
